Clinical and Pathologic Study of Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding


Abstract
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is defined as abnormal bleeding from the uterine endometrium, which is unrelated to anatomic lesion of uterus and excluded uterine bleeding secondary to organic lesion of uterus.
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding may occur at any age, from menarche to menopause, but especially is met on puberty and menopause because ovarian dysfunction is easily occurred on those periods. And its' incidence is 10~15% in gynecologic
disorders.
This study is reported on clinical and pathologic aspects in 76 cases of dysfunctional uterine bleeding, with brief review of literature.
@ES The results were as follows.
@EN 1) Age distribution of dysfunctional uterine bleeding were located mainly in 30~40 years. Mean age was 38 years.
2) Obstetric history of dysfunctional uterine bleeding patients showed 2~3 times deliveries and 4~5 times pregnancies.
3) Bleeding patterns showed that intermenstrual bleeding(39.6%) was most frequent and menorrhagia(34.2%) was next.
4) Histologic findings of endometrium were proliferative phase, 42 cases(55.2%), secretory phase, 19 cases(25.0%) and hyperplasia, 4 cases(5.3%) in order of frequency.
5) Treatment were made surgical therapy in most cases and hormonal therapy of 3 cases.
